ABOUT US
Great Lakes Daylilies is an AHS National Display Garden and is designed to attract wildlife. Many active feeding stations with bird feeders, bird baths and ponds are located throughout the garden. I have introduced for Doc Branch of Piper City, Illinois, since the 1980’s. All of Doc’s introductions are featured in our online catalog, as well as our own introductions. Now in his late 90’s, Doc’s hybridizing efforts have spanned decades since being awarded the Stout Medal in 1970 for HORTENSIA, which he first bloomed in 1960. His plants have progressed steadily in form and beauty over the years to his current Smuggler’s (tets) and Lunar (dips) series. EDNA BRANCH, a 2005 introduction named for Doc’s wife, is the jewel in the crown of his hybridizing program to date. This sun-fast crisp, clear, intense, deeply-saturated cerise cherry with an electric lime green throat, stops garden visitors dead in their tracks! Many wonderful seedlings have bloomed from EDNA BRANCH and this line is being expanded with great interest and anticipation by both Doc and me. Another exciting new large flowered purple-lavender line will be coming from LUNAR LAVENDER BLUSH. Watch for them!

Thank you for visiting our website and I hope you enjoy your virtual tour of both our garden and Doc and Edna's AHS National Display Garden, along with our huge image gallery of Doc's and our introductions and seedlings. A very special thank you to Bob Axmear of Waukon, Iowa, http://www.gardensights.com/ for his technical help in setting up the water applet.
Another very special thanks goes to Chris W Design for designing our beautiful Web site!
